 Three Georgetown Lady Eagles have been named superlatives on the District 23-5A volleyball team as selected by the alignment's eight head coaches. Addi Gaido, a 6-foot-5 sophomore, was named the district's outstanding hitter, while 6-1 sophomore McKenzie Bernard was selected the outstanding blocker. Senior Alexis Flora shared the outstanding defensive player honor with Pflugerville senior Sophia Montenegro.

  Six members of the 23-5A runner-up Georgetown squad, which posted a 28-19 record were named to the 22-player first team. Joining Flora, Gaido and Bernard from coach Jenny Richardson's Lady Eagles were seniors Kate Stengle, Ellie Quiroz and Karsyn Hammons. District champion Pflugerville Hendrickson also had six first-team selections.

  Three GHS players -- senior Claire Mitchell and sophomores Issabella Casanova and Sophia Jazesf -- were placed on the second team, while junior Kamryn Shelton and sophomore Sadie Mccauley were named to the honorable-mention list.

   Hendrickson senior Kyra Dove was voted the district's most valuable player, Hendrickson junior Morgan Warren took the top setter honor and Bastrop sophomore Laicey Sullivent was named the newcomer of the year. First-year East View coach Christi Dreier, who coached the Patriots to third place, was selected coach of the year.

   All members of the Georgetown varsity roster were named academic all-district -- Flora, Mitchell, Hamons, Stengle, Mccauley, Jazesf, Shelton, senior Brooklyn Trulove, senior Molly Edwards, senior Abby Brent, Quiroz, Bernard, Gaido, So.; Casanova, junior Megan Hall, senior Sara Sanchez and junior Brooke Locklin.

   Also receiving academic honors were Edwards, Trulove and Hamons, who earned all-state second-team academic all-state honors from the Texas High School Coaches Association. Flora and Brent claimed honorable mention nods from the THSCA.

   In this past weekend's Region III-5A Tournament at the Merrill Center in Katy, Montgomery Lake Creek shut out Brenham, 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-18) in Saturday's finals In Friday's semifinals Lake Creek beat Lamar Fulshear, 3-2, and Brenham bested Manvel, 3-1.

   In the Class 5A semifinals of the UIL State Tournament at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland next Friday Liberty Hill (42-10) will play Frisco Reedy (27-13) at 11 a.m. and Colleyville Heritage (41-7) will face Montgomery Lake Creek (32-16) at 1p.m.

   The finals are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday.
