 The individual honors have come rolling in for members of Jenny Richardson's 2023 edition of the Georgetown Lady Eagles volleyball team that shared the District 23-5A championship with Pflugerville Hendrickson with matching 13-1 records and then won a playoff 3-0 over the Hawks to claim the alignment's top-seeding in the University Interscholastic League's Class 5A state playoffs.

 The Lady Eagles, who finished the campaign with a 33-16 record, were area finalists in Region III-5A after blanking Austin Crockett, 3-0, in bi-district and being upset in the area finals 3-2 by Montgomery.

 At the Lady Eagles' recent banquet -- juniors Raegan Ramirez, a 5-foot-8 libero, and Addy Gaido, a 6-foot-4 outside hitter, were named the team's co-most valuable players. Ramirez broke the school single-season record for digs this year with 868, surpassing the previous mark of 860 by Brittany Steele in 2009. In her three varsity seasons, Gaido, who already is committed to the University of Texas, passed the 1,000 mark for career kills, while junior setter Issabella Casanova passed the 1,000 mark for assists.

 Other honors from the banquet went to 5-foot-9 junior Sadie McCauley as the Offensive MVP and 6-foot-1 junior McKenzie Bernard as the defensive MVP. Seniors Reagan Truitt, a 5-7 defensive specialist, and MacKenna Heine, a 5-5 setter/defensive specialist, shared the Camryn McGinnis Award.

 The amount of individual recognition started with a strong showing on the All-District 25-3A selections. Four Lady Eagles earned superlatives -- Ramirez and Hendrickson senior outside hitter/defensive specialist Kara Wynn shared the MVP nod, while junior Molly O'Shaughnessy was Newcomer of the Year, Gaido was offensive player of the year and Bernard repeated as blocker of the year.

 In addition to the superlatives, GHS had three first-team and three second team selections. Sophia Jazesf, a 5-11 junior middle blocker, Allison O'Shaughnessy, a 5-11 junior setter, and McCauley, 5-9 junior outside hitter right side, earned the first-team spots and Casanova, 6-0 senior middle blocker Megan Hall and 5-9 senior outside hitter Kamryn Shelton were placed on the second team.

 Honorable mention was awarded to Truitt, Heine and 5-10 junior right side Jayden Mizner.

 Academic all-state honors went to the team's four seniors -- Hall, Shelton, Truitt and Heine.

 Academic all-district selections : ALL 15 MEMBERS OF THE TEAMS, and junior manager Abby McConnell.

 "Proud of the players earning these honors," Richardson said. "It is a great indication of how hard these young ladies work everyday."
